TheSmartMarks Forums -> Replying in Crash Holly passes away

First off and most important, RIP Crash, I always enjoyed the 24/7 and the super Heavyweight gimmicks.

Now, I've read through all the posts in this thread and have this to say.

Wrestlers get into this business to wrestle. If giving them two months off were to happen, all that would mean is some independents would have some great shows for those two months. Some would take the time off, but most would take the oppertunity to moake a few extra dollars. It's just not going to happen.

It's not Vince's fault that this is happening. You cannot watch that amount of people 24/7, as others have stated. It comes down to choices that people make. Vince is not standing over them throwing pills down their mouth or buying them a bottle of rum. If they choose to take those pills or have those drinks. It's on thier own head.

With Steroids, It's almost an occupational hazard, but as long as there are people who want to see the "super Human" bodies and people who are willing to do whatever it takes to get themselves there, they will be a problem. No one takes them without knowing what could/will happen. Once again, it's a choice.

Regulation is not going to help, commissions and inquirys are not going to matter. The only thing that is going to change what happens in this business that we all love is changing the type of people that decide to make thier living at it.

A story on the Death of Road Warrior Hawk

Another one of the people that i grew up watching has left.

I remember when I started watching pro wrestling, I bought a large amount of what were called the Apter Mags. Pro Wrestling Illustrated, The Wrestler and it's ilk. It's in these mags that I found out that there was more then WWF wrestling out there. The NWA, not as we know it today, was home to Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and The Road Warriors.

When Hawk and Animal debuted in the WWF, I was thier biggest fan. Right up to their appearence on RAW a few weeks ago, I always thought that The Road Warriors is the greatest tag team of all time.

With the losses of Curt Henning, Freddie Blassie and, just a couple of days ago, Stu Hart, There must be a lot of happy fans in the sky.

Hello and welcome to yet another return to the wonderful world of Blogging by the man of a 1000 returns :) Hopefully this one will be for a while.

As if blogging coulden't any easier, Blogger has introduced Blog This!. It's a neat little Java script program that allows you to add things to the blog without actually going to the website. It drags and drops right in to the bookmark/Favorites file (depending if you're using Internet explorer or Netscape/Mozilla), and allows you to publish. It's a great little idea. As soon as I saw it I was all over it. I expect that you will be as well.

So what's been going on lately? Well, I've got a new job at ICT. I'm now an assistant trainer for the Aliant program. After a few uptraining classes; this past week was my first full class of new people; in combination with the head trainer. After a couple of days, I've been working on some special projects that are going to keep me out of the class for part of this go around; but it's a job that I really enjoy.

Other then work; there hasn't been much going on. Congratulations have to go out to Dana and Dave on their wedding. I did the music for the ceremony, and what a beautiful ceremony it was. One of the funny things of the event occured on thursday night at the rehersal dinner. We all went to the Rodd Miramichi for what turned out to be a wonderful supper. One of thier specialitys is Salmon with a "Miramichi tradition"; Boiled Mayonnaise. I found this a little strange, but never really thought about it until Jessica, sitting beside me; asked if I had ever hear of it. Turns out all of the locals never heard of this so called "Miramichi Tradition". Those that had it say it was very good.

Speaking of Jess, for those that don't know, She's moved home for a while, anyway. I was a little worried what it was going to be like when she came home, knowing that in the past, she had talked about not wanting to come back. After talking to her for a bit, she's happy to be home. That makes me really happy, as we've got to spend some time together the past couple of weeks, and I can say that I am very happy to have my best friend back on the 'chi :)!!

In a NWF update, I had taken a bit of a leave of absence a few months ago, but am now on the comeback trail. I have my first NWF match back this coming week at Insomnia, facing Jae and "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels. It's going to be a tough one, but I think the break did me some good, as I'm very happy with what I've come up with so far. You may want to check it out at Nightmare Wrestling

It's not the only e-fed action that CD Lawrence has been in lately as I have also entered RPW. With two shows, Razor and Spinebuster, it can be a demanding schedule. So far I've only appeared on Spinebuster, but this past week was rewared with a win in the main event to advance in a tournamant for the vacant Television title. I don't want to say it's easier, but with a 100 line limit, it does make things more manageable. To check out what CD Lawrence is up to lately, Check out the website. That's where I post the Rp's for RPW. I'll also be posting the RP's for the return in NWF soon as well. I really enjoy using this whole CD Lawrence character. Maybe somewhere down the line, it could be made into a book.

Speaking of books, work has begun again on the proposed book of woodstock stories. Myself, Dave L and Dave M are working on a few things. What spured this one on is the upcoming reunion of 20 years of Comm Arts students, taking place on Sept 27 and 28 in woodstock. I know a few people that I've spoken to are ready for it. It should be a good time. Any NBCC Communication Arts Grads that see this and want more information can check out the website Here. It's going to be a great time, so pass the word along.

That's about all the news for now, I'll be back soon. Question, comments or death threats can be sent to This address. If people I went to NBCC with see this, drop me a line. I'd like to know who's all going to be ready to party in September.

Thanks and LAter

After a Long...long...long absence, I have decided to return to the online world. That's right, just when you thought that it was safe to connect your computer to a phone line (or cable modem, you lucky bastards), Dok has returned. I honestly have been meaning to update this for a while, but sometimes real life gets in the way of this virtual world, so lets catch up, shall we

I'm still working at ICT as a "Internet Service Tech". IT's an interesting job that allows me to talk to some of the most idiotic people in the atlantic provinces. People, if it says "Name:", put your name there. The people are fun to work with, for the most part. Although if people would spend as much time doing thier job as they did bitching, they'd have nothing to bitch about. Lately, I've been spending sometime on the floor, as advanced support, which is interesting, but also shows me how much more I have to learn. Everyday there seems to teach me some more.

Work on the book has come to an utter and compete stop, and I'll take the blame for it. Time has been at a premium in the past little while and it seems to be the one thing that I can keep putting off. Hopefully, with the addition of Big Dave to the writing team, and a kick in the arse, delivered by anyone who's willing, will change that.

The past few months have been tougher on my psyche then I've been letting on. I just seem to be staying home more and more, as my circle of friends becomes smaller and smaller. Along with the fact that the bar scene isn't the draw that it used to be. Between people moving and just the fact that we're all moving into other things, the usual gang dosen't seem to get together anymore. Hell, I havn't seen my best friend since christmas, and it's no one's fault but my own, as thier's nothing that stops me from getting on a bus and going, but even the people that are still here, we never seem to see each other.I don't know if it's on purpose or if it's the fact that we're all looking for different things in different places, It's just weird.

This next part is going to be a little hard to write, but if I'm going to be honest, I guess I have to (if not just for the fact that I promised Dave the full story) New Year's started out just like so many house parties that I had attended at the Kenny's. I had some boones and some crown. Most of the gang was going to be there, and the band was playing. I went down, expecting nothing more then a great time. What I got was something that I think will change me.

Joined by the usual suspects, we were standing around when I noticed that one of John's (Jessica's brother, for those that don't know) friends was there. Jennifer, who I've met a few times, but hadn't really spoken to her before. I made the rounds saying hello to everyone, getting a hug from Jen, but I really didn't think much of it at the time, that sort of thing just happens at a house party.

As the night continued, Jennifer and I were spending more and more time together. I was surprized at this, as, while I had noticed Jen, I never though that she'd be interested in me. But as usual, subtlety to me is a ton of bricks to the head. As we were standing the question, she's standing in front of me, and I make what could have been the bonehead play of the year, I say "That we prob shouldn't be doing this" thinking that there was too much that could go wrong. She walks away that moment, and as she does, my mind is racing, thinking as to why I just said that. A few seconds later, I grab her hand and tell her that "I didn't mean that we should stop". That left us, after some conversatuation, in a relationship.

Now, anyone that knows me knows that i don't do anything half-assed, We both jumped in with both feet. And I can say that I had never been happier.

Where are we now? Jennifer and I are the best of friends, after realizing that things were moving way too fast and that we needed to know each other before we went any further. Will we get back together down the line? only time will tell that story. Do I regret getting involved? not in the least, Jennifer and I will always be together in one form or another, as friends or more, no one knows. I will admit that it took a little getting used to, but I'm now at peace with everything.

Now that that's out of the way :) How about an NWF update? I'm still in the horsemen as CD Lawrence, with Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. My latest storyline had my wife "Crystal" being pregnant, and joining me on the road. In the Match that night, Me and my Tag team partner, Steve Williams lost the tag belts after an accidental kick to the face, when I return to the dressing room,I find my horsemen teammates tending to a bloody and beaten Crystal, who is taken to hospital. We later find out that the stress of the attack as well as the blood loss has caused Crystal to lose the baby. CD thinks that Williams attacked Crystal to get back for the superkick, leading to a match. After the match, we find out that a former Client of CD's, Infexion, was at fault. This led up to a match at the PPV, that I won after sending Infexion to the hospital. Who says wrestling isn't a male soap?

This all leads up to the return of John Q.Smith as the leader of the Syndicate, that happens to include former horsemen and CD running buddy, Gregory Maines. After this weeks Tag title match with Chris Benoit, the Syndicate begins to make it's run of terror, and we'll see what's happens...oh my god..we're out of time..tune in next week...oops sorry, Nitro Flashback.

Well, I think that I've said enough for now...drop me a line, and I promise it won't be 4 months before we talk again. LAter
